LAPD Seeks Help Finding Suspect in Gang-Related Murder

(LOS ANGELES) -- Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Area homicide detectives are asking the public for help in identifying and locating the suspect in the murder of a 24-year-old man Sunday night.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 400 block of South Avenue 19 at around 8:23 p.m. When police arrived, they were directed to John Anthony Neves, who was lying on the ground near the back of his home. An investigation revealed that Neves was sitting inside his vehicle when an armed suspect approached on foot and fired multiple shots at him. Neves was reportedly shot while fleeing from his vehicle. The suspect fled.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced Neves pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.
